Nina Karavasiles
Nina Karavasiles has an MFA from UCSD and a BA from Monserrat in MA. She is very interested in art that is in a situation with a general audience. And there are other things too: she has written a story book about Alzheimer’s, is teaching Extreme Collage, she is talking about environmental issues with a chair in an exhibition. She lives on 6 acres and experiments with plants in the chaparral. She lives with a photographer and a dog.
Nina’s project locations- Colfax Avenue Bridge, Studio City CA, 70th St Trolley Station La Mesa CA, Fire station #11 San Diego, Rosa Parks Transit San Diego. In the past 15 years, she has worked mostly for Affordable Housing developers: Solara, Lillian Place, Mission Cove, Coronado Seniors, Mayberry, Iowa St. Seniors, Brighton Place, Talmadge, COMM22, Poway Villas and then some. Most of these locations deal with environment and the notion of placing multiple pieces rather than one large sculpture. This is to encourage investigation.
