Matt Gunnell
Matt Gunnell specializes in hand-cut, punched, painted, and stitched multi-media art on leather and cloth. His lifelong passion for the arts began in the 80s with ceramics, music, painting, and conceptual installations and includes a BA in Fine Art from the California State University at Long Beach. In his creative pursuits, he has sampled knife making, chair making, and more as he explores the realms of different materials, textures, themes, colors, and philosophies. Now primarily working in leather, Matt is captivated by the unconventional fusion of disparate elements, particularly when applied to functional objects. He is driven by a desire to create unique, thought-provoking pieces that challenge traditional notions of art and utility and will become sacred objects to those who own and use them.
