Kathy Stocks
Kathy is originally from Illinois and has been a resident of California since 2007. She is predominantly a self-taught artist and has successfully produced award-winning original visual art (primarily pen-and-ink, watercolor and colored pencil), as well as historically accurate jewelry made of leather and Swedish tin-thread woven into Celtic knots -she has even incorporated guitar strings into her pieces! Her art and jewelry can be seen at select fairs around She has hosted a booth featuring her art at The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Irwindale since 2011. In the past 2 years, her pieces have been published twice in Colored Pencil Magazine; an interview with Kathy is currently featured in the online version of Celtic Nations Magazine.
Her favorite subjects for visual art include Wildlife and domestic animals as well as Celtic and Fantasy themes. She loves color and uses vibrant colors in her fantasy art to make each piece sing. She also uses her skill with color theory, contrast and highlights to give her animals and birds a life-like three-dimensional feel. Kathy is a life-long learner and enjoys teaching and increasing knowledge of conservation issues and endangered species through her art. Her goals this year include teaching colored pencil at workshops and home parties as well as expanding her online store. Her most recent projects include experimenting with colored pencil on wood and in creating a Wildlife Series specific to Idyllwild and the San Jacinto Mountains.
