“Photography is an extension of my views as I look at the world. It is a pathway to retain and document those visual images. The camera viewfinder creates the frame and I try to fill it with interesting, pleasing or thoughtful images. Sometimes these images are of natural scenes such as the California desert and other times they can capture an instant in time in a remote location somewhere in the world.”
Jim McNally
Jim McNally became a serious photographer while attending UCLA when he was hired as a staff photographer for the UCLA Photography Department, The Daily Bruin (the student newspaper), and the UCLA Year Book. At the conclusion of his time at UCLA with the completion of a Master of Public Health degree, he came to a cross roads in his career choice: Photographer or Scientist? Jim decided to put his academic training to use and chose a career in the sciences, though his passion for photography remained. Having retired from a career as an environmental and public health scientist, he now focuses his time and interest on presenting the photographic imagery he’s created - both past and present.
